The Big Move

Well, we survived the garage sale and are now slowly emptying the garage and packing things up. It's amazing how much stuff we've accumulated over the years. I think that part of the problem is that over the last 19 years, all of our moves have been local. If you're able to make multiple car trips back and forth, there's no real reason to cull your possessions. We are now culling.

We were spoiled with our previous moves. Our first house sold in two weeks. Our second house sold the first day. We sold the in-law's house the first day. This house has been on the market since March, and our first deal fell through. It has not been fun.

The buyers have not been easy to work with. Their realtor doesn't return calls, and they are very demanding. We went above and beyond and took care of 7 out of 11 items from the home inspection. They came back wanting us to take care of the remaining items. We said no, as our contractor said the items didn't need to be fixed. So they countered asking for a reasonable credit. Excuse me? I was ready to walk away at that point, but DH was on the verge of a breakdown so we agreed to a small credit. They came back asking for a $9500 credit! Excuse me? Our lawyer finally grew a pair and told them they were in danger of losing the house, so they reluctantly accepted the small credit. *smh*

They keep dragging their feet every step of the way, so I feel like we're in limbo. Don't have a firm closing date, so we can't schedule movers or rent a place. We found a great condo to rent until we find a place to buy, but I'm afraid she'll rent it to someone else if we can't lock in a date.

This is the worst move ever.
